More than 260 people headed to West Stow yesterday for the annual Festive Forest challenge in aid of St Nicholas Hospice.

Participants, many of whom wore Christmas attire, could chose to run, walk or complete a Nordic walk around the forest, with routes covering 10km, 13 miles or 20 miles.

More than £4,000 was raised in entry fees alone, with the totals from sponsorship and donations still being counted.

Jenny Baskett, events and challenges fundraiser for St Nicholas Hospice, said: “It was absolutely brilliant, a super day.

“We had bands of merry elves, Father Christmas’ and Christmas puddings.

“People really went to town, they always do.

“It’s such a nice day, even for the people helping. It’s a really positive, fun atmosphere.

“We would like to send a massive thanks to Kevin from Positive Steps for organising the event.”
