Gait and running analysis
A gait and running assessment includes a biomechanical video analysis of your legs from your pelvis to your toes. This will identify the underlying cause of persistent and recurrent problems such as low back, hip, thigh, knee, ankle or foot pain particularly if this comes on after exercise such as walking, running or playing sport.
It’s also beneficial if you undertake sport at high level and have an ache or pain in your back or lower limbs that is affecting your performance. We can use this technology to analyse technique for other sports too.
An initial one hour gait and running assessment and biomechanical video analysis involves:
An interview to understand the exact nature of your problem and how it is affecting you
A detailed examination that includes
Posture analysis in standing, in particular the relationship of your pelvis, hip and knee to the foot and ankle
Video analysis. This is done on land or a treadmill .You will be videoed walking and running.
Tests of your range of movement and strength
A discussion of our findings and recommendations as to what needs to be done to resolve the problem you are experiencing. This will include advice on your footwear.
You will need to bring shorts and a T shirt and your normal sports or running shoes to the assessment
Orthotics
For some people we recommend orthotic prescription Orthotics are specially designed insoles that go into your shoe to correct your foot posture. This is a specialist service. The physiotherapist will measure nd prescribe the right orthotic for you. They will then fit them for you when they arrive and check the prescription is correct.
